Can I add boneless chicken to my “Hash brown” casserole?

Thinking about making a hashbrown casserole for a pot luck dinner. Recipe seems a little “blah”. Has anyone added maybe boneless chicken to this recipe?

I love hash brown casserole. Sure you could add chicken. You could also get by with some ground beef. I change mine up by using extra cheese and sour cream and using cream of chicken soup.
