Is hashish legal in Egypt?

As others have said it is certainly not legal in Egypt, even if you are on prescription marijuana as is legal in some countries and states of the U.S.,it won’t be considered legal in Egypt.
The last thing you want to do here is end up in an Egyptian jail, just think Guantanamo Bay x Bangkok Hilton and you get the picture, especially for a female.
Many locals do smoke hashish or bango as it is commonly called, even though it is both prohibited by law .
It is considered haram according to Islamic law as T.H.C. is a substance that does do you body and mind harm, even though it is far less harmful and addictive than cigarettes and alcohol.
If you are coming to Egypt as a tourist don’t under any circumstances be talked into buying or even smoking hashish or marijuana with locals no matter how friendly and confident may appear to be of not being caught. you may end up the one who is charges while they get off.
Like most police forces around the world the Egyptian police force is full of corrupt individuals looking for a way to make a bit of extra money and get an easy promotion..
The reality is if you are young or even youngish then you are very likely going to be offered some, especially if you are taking a Nile Cruse or felluca ride.
The offer of “a boat ride to to Banana Island” in Luxor is a very often used front just to sell hashish.
You are far more likely to be offered hashish than marijuanna for in Egypt and other African and Middle Eastern countries it is the way the drug has been used traditionally for centuries when smoking through a shisha pipe.
