A good website to explain hashing [in computer science] to a beginner?
I have no previous knowledge of hashing and for the most part, the times I have serached google, the results are generally higher level, not aimed at someone who knows nothing about the process. You can try and explain it or just list some [or just one] tutorial.
Unfortunately, do to the nature of hashing, it is impossible to give a “simple” tutorial. A simple explanation of hashing is “one-way encryption.” You can encrypt data into a hash, but you cannot reverse the process, i.e., decrypt the hash back into the original data. I’m sorry, but that’s about as good as it gets if you don’t want to get technical.
